Peter F. Borges
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Peter is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Human Touch. Passionate about work with young people, Peter embarked on his first innovative HIV prevention program at the age of 21, which was awarded “MTV Staying Alive Award” for “Extraordinary HIV Prevention Work Among Young People”. Currently, Peter is a Research Scholar in Social Work at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. His main research interest is protection of the rights of children living with HIV in India – a critical analysis of the legal and policy responses. Peter has provided leadership to the organization through various innovative grassroot level initiatives in the space of HIV, substance abuse, TB and SRH. He has engaged with the government and was responsible for policy changes in program delivery in public health system in Goa in the space of HIV and SRH. Peter has numerous presentations at international conferences on HIV to his credit. He has also served as a Special Invitee, Board of Studies at the Goa University (Sociology Department) and was responsible for framing the syllabus for Masters in Social Work programme. He is currently serving as member, Board of Studies for Department of Sociology (Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science). Peter is also a member of the Global HIV Strategy Group and International Reference Group of the World Council of Churches – Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance, Geneva.Peter also serves as a Member of Child Protection Committee for AccorHotels Group’s Programme, WATCH (We Act Together for Children), besides serving as a Member of Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Venicia Agnes Fernandes
Within the organization, Venicia has been an active advocate for issues of young people including right to sexual and reproductive health, better policies and laws to address gender issues, domestic violence, etc. With experience in diagnostic space, she guides the organization with design of treatment literacy and education programmes. She is currently a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Coach in project of Action Aid with Children’s Rights in Goa. An athlete at heart, Venicia has been part of state and national tournaments in soccer, kho-kho and athletics. She is passionate about organic farming and engages in compost production with biodegradable waste. Venicia’s educational background includes a BSc in Microbiology and MSc in Biochemistry from Goa University. Janice Savina Rodrigues
Janiceis a journalist by professional qualifications, and has been associated with the media in Goa since 2010. With a keen interest in human interest stories, she has covered areas like special education, women empowerment and health, including HIV/AIDS, cancer and drug abuse. Janice’s characteristic zeal and efficiency will ensure that all our documentationis in place to guarantee high levels of professionalism in the organization. Janice is associated with Human Touch since 2016 and has taken on the position of Treasurer.She has also represented Human Touch NGO at the International AIDS Conference at Amsterdam, in July 2018. Francis Fernandes
Board Member
Francis Fernandes is a development professional with Masters in Social Work and Sociology. He also holds Diploma in Human Rights from Indian Institute of Human Rights (IIHR) and is keen in promoting human rights for vulnerable youth and children in difficult circumstances. Francis has pioneered Lupin Limited's CSR activity in Goa under Lupin Human Welfare and Research Foundation. He has been responsible for providing strategic focus to the foundation in the areas of education, women empowerment, health, self-employment initiatives, rural industry and youth and adolescent development. Darshana U. Biliye
Board Member
Darshana U. Biliye has Bachelors of Arts in Sociology, Master of Sociology from Goa University and Master of Social Work in Assam Don Bosco University. She has been working in the field of social development since 2013. She is currently working in the education sector. She has worked as a Corporate Social Responsibility Officer in the corporate sector. She has experience in social development projects (corporate) in the communities, schools, government and with NGOs in areas of health, education, infrastructure, environment sustainability and so forth. Darshana enjoys working with families, youth and extensively with children, and feels privileged to be part of Human Touch. Jawish Moniz
Board Member
Specialized in Child Protection, Jawish completed MSW (Masters in Social Work) at Nagpur University. He worked for a joint venture of Don Bosco Ashalayam (DBA) and United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) as Programme Officer for 3 years. He was instrumental in providing psychosocial support for refugees through case assessment, management, compilation and follow up. He was also part of the process of identifying and assessing refugees and asylum for inclusion in the vulnerable groups for assistance and rehabilitation. At Human Touch Foundation, Jawish is instrumental in advising the resource mobilization and partnerships. Sibyl H. Placida Fernandes
Board Member
Sibyl Fernandes has a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology from Goa University. She has the experience of working with children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS during the course of internship as a part of the master’s curriculum. She has also worked with victims of commercial sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse. She has also represented Human Touch Foundation at the 7th Youth Advocacy on Safe Abortion held at Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2018. Sibyl Fernandes enjoys working with children and adolescents.
