Human Touch organises camps for children and adolescents living with HIV in Goa. These camps aim to share love, build hope and strengthen faith to live life with dignity and courage.
Adolescents, especially those who are orphaned, find it difficult to set higher goals due to the fear that dominates their emotions. Losing a father or mother affects their self-image causing a severely low self-esteem. The camps aim to build confidence and help these adolescents to emerge as peer leaders for change.
Since 2011, Human Touch has been organizing two 5-day residential camps, i.e. Sunburst Camp and I CAN Leadership Camp for adolescents.
At this residential camp, children and adolescents living with HIV, aged 10 to 21 enjoy the companionship of others without the social stigma and isolation associated with the HIV epidemic.
In the safe haven of the camp, children freely participate in a variety of camp activities including sessions on team building, self-esteem, positive communication and leadership to develop healthy self-image. Besides this, the camp is designed to build overall personalities, with activities such as art and crafts, hiking and campfires.
